A Bit About Me

I began my taekwondo journey when I was very young. After I got into a fight in school (which I most certainly didn't win) my mother decided to enroll me in a martial arts program. We went around to many schools in our town, but none quite matched what my mother wanted. Finally, we arrived at a small taekwondo dojang where the Master Instructor there handed me a piece of paper. On it, was a list of what a black belt does. On our ride home, I insisted that we start training there. The next day, I put on my first dobok.

Once I started training, I hit the ground running (so to speak). I loved training. Was I the best student? Definitely not. I misbehaved, my technique was never perfect. In fact, I don't think I ever scored well on any of my promotional exams. Yet, I never let that get me down. Every time I fell (and I fell a lot) I brushed myself off and got back up.

After more than 15 years of training, competing, and teaching, I finally became a master instructor and decided to start this blog. I love teaching, and this is a great way for me to teach what I can't teach on the mat. With the Tae Kwon Do Tutors Blog, I can teach students about taekwondo, the life of a taekwondo student, and much more. Essentially, this is my online dojang!
